The Good Shepherd

If a man has 100 sheep, and one of them goes astray, does he not leave the 99 and go to the mountains to seek the one that is straying? And if he should find it, assuredly, I say to you, he rejoices more over that sheep, then over the 99 that did not go astray. Matthew 18:12, 13.
The good shepherd leaves the 99 and goes after the one lost sheep. The one leaves the safety of the flock and the shepherd by accident, and is drawn away. He is inquisitive, but does not know the dangers. The good shepherd goes out and finds the lost sheep and rescues him. But the one sheep that was rescued continues to go out and leaves the safety of the flock and the shepherd. The one sheep thinks he can go blindly into dangerous places; it thinks it can do as it pleases whenever it pleases. At some point, the shepherd sees that this one sheep has made its own decision to be rebellious and to wander off. If the shepherd continues to rescue it, he puts the 99 at risk. The shepherd then makes the painful decision to let the one go his own way. That one sheep made the decision to stand alone, and apart from the safety of the shepherd and the flock.
We live in dark and dangerous times. We must all stay tucked up tight to the good shepherd knowing that He cares for us and seek out a good pastor who loves you and will teach you Gods Word, and a loving congregation that you can be a part of. God bless you.
