I Am Going Fishing
⚔️WARRIORS:
Have you ever wondered why the disciples went back to fishing after Jesus had died?
These were the same men who had left their nets to follow Jesus.
They had watched him, heal the sick, raise the dead, calm the storm & even saw Him after His resurrection.
Yet in John 21:3, Peter simply said, “I am going fishing.”
The others answered, “we will go with you.”
WHY?
I believe that they did what many of us do when life doesn’t make sense.
They returned to what was familiar. They went back to what they knew-grief, uncertainty, fear & waiting caused them to drift to their old way of life.
Isn’t that exactly what we do sometimes?
When prayers seem unanswered… when life gets hard… when we don’t understand what God is doing… when we get discouraged…
We are tempted to go back to old habits, old mindsets & old comforts instead of waiting on God‘s decision.
But here’s the beautiful part of the story, Jesus met them right where they were. He didn’t stand on the shore condemning them.
He called out, “Cast your net on the right side.”
Their empty nets became overflowing nets.
Then Jesus cooked them breakfast, restored Peter & reminded him of his true assignment, “Feed My sheep.” (John 21:17)
Maybe today you’ve been tempted to go back— to that old lifestyle, old attitude, or old way of thinking.
Can I encourage you?
Don’t go back to what God has already called you out of.
Jesus is still standing on the shore, calling you forward. Your assignment has not changed because your circumstances have.
I pray that you see what the 12 saw that even in times when your mind starts to doubt, God is still in your story.
He is still God & He is still in control. It’s so easy to go back fishing but that’s not what He is asking us to do!
I trust this encourages you to keep standing, keep loving others and keep showing up.
God bless you big time!
